Description
Height:100cm(39.37in), Width:63cm(24.80in), Thick:48cm(18.90in)Stone polychrome seated Shakyamuni preaching Buddha. The Buddha sits in full lotus posture, right hand in Abhaya mudra, left hand resting on knee, the traditional preaching gesture. Neat spiral ushnisha, mild rounded face with lowered eyes conveying compassion. Robe with radiating layered folds follows the Chinese broad-robe style of Northern Dynasties to Sui-Tang. The base is decorated with carved hanging curtain motifs with residual gilding. Aged pigment and patina cover the stone. Graceful proportions and skilled carving make it an outstanding Chinese stone Buddhist sculpture
