Description
Height:103cm(40.55in), Width:72cm(28.35in), Thick:53cm(20.87in)Stone polychrome and gilded seated Shakyamuni Buddha. The Buddha sits in full lotus position with hands forming Dhyana mudra. Finely carved spiral hair, serene facial expression with lowered eyes. Layered robes with flowing folds follow the sculptural aesthetics from Northern Dynasties to Sui-Tang periods. Traces of ancient pigments and gilding remain on neck ornament and garment edges, naturally aged over time. Harmonious proportions and masterful carving make it a fine example of Chinese polychrome stone Buddhist sculpture
