Lot 217:
Description
H:5.5cm(2.17in) Weight:280g(0.62lb)This set of sword ornaments is a national treasure of ancient agate craftsmanship in the Han Dynasty. Made of high-quality Zhanguo red agate, it features a warm and mellow chicken-blood red/sweet persimmon red hue after years of precipitation. It adopts the high-relief and round-carving techniques to fully carve chilong patterns. The four pieces are sword head, sword guard, sword slide and sword chape respectively. The chilong is vigorous and agile with a majestic expression, and the lines are powerful and smooth, with extremely exquisite craftsmanship. As an exclusive decoration for Han Dynasty nobles’ swords, it symbolizes "power, status, warding off evil spirits and attracting blessings", with extremely high artistic, historical and collection value.
