Description
Height:58cm(22.83in), Height:36cm(14.17in)Grey schist Bodhisattva head in classic Gandhara style. Wavy hair is finely carved; the crown is decorated with a beast motif at the centre. An urna sits on the forehead, eyes gently closed with peaceful expression and characteristic moustache. Lion-head pendants hang from the ears. The stone bears natural aged patina. It merges Hellenistic sculptural craftsmanship with Eastern Buddhist aesthetics, representing precious art relics from the ancient Silk Road. Presented with a modern metal stand for display and collection.
