The frontispiece bears imperial calligraphy "Hundred Deer" inscribed by the Qianlong Emperor, covered with Qing imperial collection seals. The scroll depicts lofty mountains, ancient pines and numerous deer wandering among valleys. Painted with meticulous Song court painting techniques, the work features delicate texture strokes and elegant coloring. Many ancient scholar colophons are attached, preserved in original antique flower-pattern silk mounting. Deer symbolize good fortune and peaceful realm in Chinese culture.
