Long:1718cm(676.38in) Width:72.5cm(28.54in)Color flower-and-bird scroll on silk. The frontispiece bears the title "Hundreds of Birds Pay Homage to the Phoenix". The scroll depicts the auspicious scene of phoenix surrounded by various birds including cranes, pheasants and waterfowl, rendered with precise, gorgeous brushwork typical of Song imperial academy painting. Ancient connoisseurs?? colophons are attached at the end, preserved in original antique silk mounting. The motif symbolizes virtuous sovereign and peaceful realm. Integrating bird, plant and landscape painting, this scroll represents distinguished Song court art.
