Description
Long:808cm(318.11in) Width:36.6cm(14.41in)Regular script hand scroll on silk. The frontispiece bears imperial calligraphy "Spirit and Vitality in Harmony" covered with ancient collection seals. The whole scroll transcribes the Buddhist scripture, featuring elegant, precise brushwork characteristic of Wen Zhengming. Interspersed landscape, flower and insect paintings alternate with calligraphy. Many scholar colophons are attached at the end, preserved in original antique silk mounting. As a vital religious text, this scroll integrates literati calligraphy and Buddhist culture, representing fine Wu School art.
