Description
H:30cm W:18.5cm Official famille rose square vase of Guangxu reign, Qing Dynasty, modelled after ancient bronze pot. Straight square mouth, tubular twin ears on both sides and square ring foot, fully covered with mild pale celadon ground glaze. All four sides are painted with continuous nine-peach longevity motif: gnarled peach branches bear nine ripe longevity peaches, decorated with red bats and ganoderma lucidum, layered vivid green leaves. The rim and base are trimmed with gilt geometric fretwork enamel borders.Nine peaches stand for endless longevity, bat (fu) sounds identical to "blessing", ganoderma symbolizes long life, forming an imperial auspicious pattern of fortune and longevity. Two vertical lines of regular cobalt script "Made in Guangxu Reign of Great Qing" are inscribed on the white glazed base.Dignified and steady shape, soft pale celadon base, realistic layered enamel rendering create strong three-dimensional peach texture. It is a major late Qing imperial famille rose display ware, valuable for Qing naturalistic enamel painting craft research, court longevity auspicious culture and hall display porcelain collection
