Description
H:8cm W:46.5cm Blue-and-white large lobed-rim plate of Yuan or Ming style, wavy petal-shaped rim, wide folded flange and shallow curved belly. The interior is divided into multiple concentric bands of decoration:The central eight-lobed panel encloses a treasure flower; the inner ring features four phoenixes flying among winding interlocking flowers; the wide outer band is fully covered with peony, chrysanthemum and seasonal blooms; the rim is decorated with ocean wave patterns, forming a dense multi-layered composition.Phoenix is an auspicious mythical bird symbolizing wealth and good fortune, while continuous flower scrolls stand for eternal prosperity. The cobalt blue pigment presents rich saturated tone with bold full brushwork, characteristic of large important kiln wares. The plate bears obvious cracks and has been restored by kintsugi or metal stapling. Though damaged, it retains complete painting layout and original blue-and-white craft features, valuable as a specimen for ancient ceramic pattern and blue-and-white painting research.
