L:360cm (141.73in) W:40cm (15.75in)This long official edict scroll is woven with multi-color silk brocade from the Qing court, divided into black, red, brown and beige sections, inscribed in parallel Manchu and Chinese text, dated the 26th day of the 11th lunar month, the 36th year of Qianlong reign.Cloud-pattern damask is woven across the fabric, with dragon border panels bearing seal script characters Feng Tian Gao Ming (Imperial Mandate by Heaven) at both ends, stamped with two red imperial seals. The regular script Chinese and Manchu text are laid side by side, following the standard format for conferring official titles to bureaucrats?? families in the Qing Dynasty. The heavy, aged brocade features muted antique tones, a complete surviving example of official imperial court documents of the Qing era, with intact provenance.
