Lot 176:
Description
H:14.5cm(5.71in)W:11.8cm(4.65in)Weight:1220g(2.69l b)This is a Qing Dynasty-style yellow jade treasure cabinet, modeled after a miniature upright wardrobe. It is a scholarly object for the ancient nobility. The cabinet is carved from a single piece of Hetian yellow jade with a warm, smooth texture and natural patina. The front features double doors with drawers above and below. The doors and drawers are finely incised with bird and flower motifs. The hardware, including hinges, faceplates, and ring pulls, is made of gilded copper, creating a luxurious contrast with the warm yellow jade. The cabinet stands on four outward-splayed feet, also decorated with patterns. These objects were used to store jewelry, seals, or small curios, exemplifying the Qing aesthetic principle that ??jade must bear art, and art must carry meaning.??
