TANG TRI-COLOR GLAZED FEMALE FIGURE ON HORSEBACK
Dimensions
H:41.0cm(16.14in) W:35.0cm(13.78in) This figurine is a classic human figurine of Tang Dynasty Sancai pottery. The steed stands tall with its head raised, fully glazed with precious blue glaze, in a powerful and divine posture. The female rider wears the iconic double-ring fairy bun of the Tang Dynasty, dressed in orange-yellow colored clothes, in a posture of holding an object and playing, with a vivid and lifelike shape. Tang Sancai horse-riding figurines are physical evidence of Tang Dynasty Silk Road culture, horse culture, and aristocratic life. Blue glaze uses cobalt as a colorant, which was extremely scarce in the Tang Dynasty and only used for imperial heavy vessels. This figurine, with accurate shape, pure glaze, and exquisite craftsmanship, is a masterpiece of Tang Dynasty Sancai horse-riding figurines, holding significant historical, artistic and collectible value.
