Description
Height:7cm (2.76in) , Width:9.2cm (3.62in) , Weight:920g (2.028lb) A heavy square seal of Qing dynasty carved from Shoushan Tianhuang stone. The stone is fine and mellow with warm honey?yellow hue and deep aged patina. The knob is high?relief carved with two robust chilong dragons frolicking over swirling clouds around a pearl. Fine rendering of manes and scales, multi?layer composition and rounded fluent strokes embody imperial carving aesthetics. All four sides of seal base are shallow?relief decorated with archaic kui?dragon motifs in dense elegant patterns. The vermilion seal face bears multi?character seal?script, thoughtfully arranged in thick rounded deep?cut lines, retaining heavy accumulated cinnabar patina. Boasting large?size precious material, elaborate chilong knob and fine archaic side ornaments, it is an important example of Qing?period Tianhuang seal.
