Description
Height:12cm (4.72in) , Diameter:18cm (7.09in) Bell?shaped bowl with flared rim and tapering body rising to a tall foot?ring. The exterior is fully decorated in underglaze?blue with scholars gathering in a garden setting, amid plantain leaves, rockwork and bamboo. Robed literati stroll and converse, accompanied by boy attendants holding books. Rendered in rich characteristic Jiajing cobalt blue with forceful well?defined outlines, the composition is dense and vivid. Six?character regular?script mark ??Da Ming Jia Jing Nian Zhi?? is painted within double blue circles on base. Scholar?gathering is a classic Jiajing official porcelain theme, this intact richly?decorated bowl stands as representative Jiajing blue?and?white ware.
