Description
Height:24.5cm (9.65in) , Width:16.5cm (6.50in) , Weight:680g (1.499lb) Carved from a single piece of Hetian celadon jade with mild and even texture. The obverse features high?relief Buddhist scene: Sakyamuni Buddha sits cross?legged on lotus throne with benevolent solemn facial features and elegant drapery, sheltered by precious canopy and auspicious clouds. Niches surrounding the central figure house Buddhas of Ten Directions with dignified appearances in well?organized layout. The reverse is finely engraved with full text of *Diamond Sutra*, neatly rendered characters with pigment?filled strokes, accompanied by two seal impressions. Combining carved iconography on one side and scripture on reverse, this meticulously?crafted jade tablet is an important imperial ritual object for Buddhist worship, integrating religious meaning, jade?carving and epigraphic art.
