Long:1232cm(485.04in) Width:39cm(15.35in)Running script scroll on silk. The frontispiece bears imperial calligraphy "Graceful and Refined Charm" inscribed by the Qianlong Emperor, covered with ancient collection seals. The scroll transcribes the famous essay, featuring bold, expansive brushwork typical of Huang Tingjian??s unique calligraphic style. Supplementary flower-bird and landscape paintings alternate with text, and scholar colophons are attached at the end, preserved in original antique silk mounting. As one of Four Great Song Calligraphers, Huang Tingjian pioneered distinctive running script. This scroll possesses great artistic and documentary value.
