Description
Long:546cm(214.96in) Width:27cm(10.63in)Color flower-and-bird scroll on paper. The frontispiece bears calligraphy title "Six Nature Sketches by Zhou Mian" inscribed by Zhou Yulin. Six independent paintings unfold, depicting ancient trees, willows, orchids, pheasants and wild birds. Following Wumen school tradition, the painter combines outline and wash with elegant coloring. Multiple ancient scholar colophons are attached, preserved in original dark silk mounting. Zhou Zhimian invented the famous "outlined flower and dotted leaf" technique. This combined scroll embodies vivid sketching aesthetics, representing fine Ming literati flower-and-bird art.
