The turtle shells are engraved with golden inscriptions and inlaid with numerous turquoise beads. Their limbs are decorated with fine gold-inlaid turtle shell patterns. Realistic in modelling, the turtles crouch with heads raised. The patina is naturally aged. Combining multiple crafts including casting, gold inlay and gem inlay, they demonstrate the sophisticated bronze technology of the Han Dynasty, reflecting the ancient worship for turtles and the pursuit of longevity.
