L:27cm H:37cm This painted equestrian civil official figurine of Ming Dynasty is made of white clay, integrated with horse and rectangular base in one firing, partially decorated with mineral blue pigment.The figure wears a tall literati official hat of Ming style, with succinct facial carving and calm elegant expression. He is dressed in wide-sleeve cross-collar long official robe, the main body retains plain clay tone, only cuffs and fold lines tinted pale blue. One hand lifts as if reciting poetry or discussing affairs, seated steadily on horseback. The horse mostly keeps plain clay body, only its bridle and saddle outlined with light blue, with primitive simple lines for mane and limbs, presenting a gentle solemn overall posture.Equestrian civil official figurines are funeral retinue burial wares of Ming tombs, representing the deceased??s former aides and ministers, embodying the wish for smooth official career and lasting literary fortune. Painted with natural mineral blue pigment, though stained and weathered by underground soil, the intact costume form clearly records Ming literati official attire, making it a typical surviving artifact for researching Ming folk pottery craft and costume culture
