Description
H:21.5cm W:11.8cm Republic of China famille rose decorative vase for literati display, with flared mouth, contracted neck, olive-shaped plump belly and neat ring foot, elegant soft outline. Blue enamel double interlocking square scroll and grass scroll bands decorate the rim and base in neat layers. The main body is fully painted with a pastoral farming scene in famille rose: a farmer and his wife walk beside a thatched cottage and weeping willows, with a child and plow ox nearby, rendered in mild pale pigments with delicate fine lines for robes and facial features, full of tranquil rural charm.A vermilion seal script mark "Xiping Caolu (Thatched Cottage of Peace)" is stamped at the base, a studio mark commonly used by He Xuren, one of the Eight Friends of Zhushan. Adopting light crimson literati porcelain painting technique, the landscape and figures combine fine detail and freehand brushwork, symbolizing peaceful livelihood and farming-studying family tradition.
