Description
H:8cm W:19.7cm This is a classic imperial palace blue-and-white bowl from the Xuande reign of Ming Dynasty, with wide mouth, curved deep belly and neat ring foot. It is made of dense solid clay and covered with thick glossy white glaze. A band of key-fret patterns lines the rim, the whole outer wall is painted with winding interlocking treasure flowers with full layered petals; scrolling grass and lotus patterns decorate the foot. Painted with imported Su Ma Li Qing cobalt pigment, the cobalt blue is rich bright, with natural iron rust spots accumulating on recessed decoration lines, rendered with bold powerful brushwork. Six-character regular script reign mark "Made in the Xuande Reign of the Great Ming" is enclosed inside double blue circles on the base. As a classic auspicious Buddhist motif, treasure flower symbolizes purity and good fortune. This bowl was exclusive royal porcelain for daily banquets and hall display
