The magazine filed for bankruptcy in May 2018, rendering this artwork an extraordinarily rare collectible scarcely available on the market, with comparable pieces largely conserved only at the Andy Warhol Museum in the United States.Andy Warhol was a preeminent master of American Pop Art, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 6, 1928, and passing away in New York City on February 22, 1987. Regarded as one of the most influential art figures of the 20th century, he was not only a leading pioneer of Pop Art but also a filmmaker, author, rock music composer and publisher – a celebrity artist highly celebrated within New York’s social and art circles.Warhol created over ten thousand artworks throughout his career. Most are permanently housed in world-class museums and art galleries, while a small number have entered the collections of major private collectors through prestigious international auctions such as Sotheby’s and Christie’s.Art critics worldwide have commented on his oeuvre: His works embody a tone of irony and detachment, depicting simple, distinct and recurring motifs that break down the boundaries between eternity and greatness. He blurred the divides between handcrafted art and mass production, Dada and Minimalism, painting and photography, canvas and film. He infused the mundane with a sense of tragedy while trivializing dramatic tragedy. Warhol dismantled the hierarchical hierarchy of artistic imagery, abolished arbitrary definitions of what constitutes "art", and bridged the gap between highbrow and popular art.
