RMS Titanic Wreckage Relic

The red fabric thread is part of the interior upholstery used on chairs in the Second-Class Dining Room and lounge areas of the RMS Titanic. While the Titanic was under construction in Belfast (1911–1912), the Paymaster of Harland and Wolff – a role equivalent to a payroll manager today – took the material from the original rolls as a souvenir. He mounted it onto a chair, which remained a family heirloom until 1999. The textile was ultimately sold at auction in 2005 and has stayed in the same private collection ever since.This well-documented, rare original fragment was exhibited in 1999 at the Vancouver Maritime Museum, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, the National Geographic Museum in Washington, D.C., and the Titanic: The Immersive Journey exhibition.Each two-inch display piece is hand-signed on the reverse by a respected collector and researcher with over twenty years of expertise, highly regarded throughout the collecting community. An attractive hand-signed certificate of authenticity details the thread’s origin and its history through the decades.
