Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and passing away in New York City, he is recognised as one of the most legendary artistic figures of the 20th century. Beyond leading the Pop Art movement, he was also a filmmaker, author, rock composer and publisher – a dazzling celebrity artist highly revered in New York’s social and art circles.Warhol created over ten thousand artworks throughout his lifetime. The majority are permanently collected in world-class museums and art institutions, while a small number have entered prestigious private collections through major international auction houses such as Sotheby’s and Christie’s.Global art critics have long commented on his oeuvre:His works embody irony and calm detachment, depicting simple, recurrent motifs that break down the boundary between the eternal and the mundane.
