Dressed in a Rococo floral-patterned gown, the mother radiates serene and saintly grace like the Madonna. Even the guardian cherubs watching over the babies are drawn to fly gently into the young mother’s embrace.Founded in 1710 by Augustus the Strong, Elector of Saxony, in Dresden, the Royal Meissen Porcelain Manufactory was relocated to Albrechtsburg Castle in Meissen in the same year by imperial decree, to safeguard the confidential techniques of porcelain production.In its early period, Meissen primarily imitated Chinese and Japanese porcelain wares, especially Japanese Imari and Kakiemon polychrome porcelain, achieving craftsmanship so refined that the replicas were nearly indistinguishable from the originals.
