It is fashioned as a miniature gilt bronze reproduction of a medieval Renaissance coastal city in France.The timepiece is centered on a grand bell tower entwined by two scrolling Renaissance?style dolphins. Arranged around it are aristocratic palaces and two spires of Gothic churches encircled by mythical beasts. In the foreground stands the city governor’s mansion adorned with a crowned noble family crest, accompanied by a standing statue of the city’s patron deity. All architectural elements combine to form a tranquil harbour scene, with a small boat awaiting its voyage upon a blue silk sea surface.The gilt bronze dial is exquisitely carved with scrolling foliate reliefs and a sculpted bust of the Sun God. The hour scale features white enamel set with cobalt blue enamel Roman numerals, paired with two clover?shaped openwork brass hands and two key winding holes. It is fitted with a round gilt bronze pendulum engraved with the Sun God motif.The clock rests on a gilt wood base decorated with elaborate high-relief carvings, centering on a large shell ornament framed by symmetrical scrolling acanthus leaves. The base is equipped with a mechanical mechanism and power cord. When powered on and wound with the key, the small boat on the silk sea will set in motion.
