19th-century French Napoleon-period antique mantel clock with marble and gilt bronze Joan of Arc statue. It features a 7-day power reserve. The clock face is crafted in white enamel, adorned with black Roman numerals and matching hands, and equipped with hour and half-hour striking functions.The clock body is constructed of warm veined marble complemented by ornate bronze fittings. Figure reliefs decorate both sides of the dial, while scrolling foliage and floral bronze ornaments on the base blend harmoniously with the mellow texture of the marble, embodying the decorative trend of mixed materials prevalent in the era.Perched atop the clock is a finely cast gilt bronze statue of Joan of Arc. Clad in medieval knight’s armour with meticulously detailed pauldrons and breastplate, she wears a long flowing robe with naturally sculpted draping folds. In her hand she holds a spear topped with a cross, symbolizing her sacred mission, with a sword slung at her waist and tall boots completing her attire. Her posture is upright and valiant, yet retaining gentle feminine grace, showcasing exceptional sculptural craftsmanship.Her facial features are exquisitely rendered, with hair neatly gathered and an expression both solemn and resolute, perfectly capturing her historical image as the maiden warrior. Small helmet and shield ornaments beside the statue further accentuate her identity as the warrior saint.This piece represents a perfect fusion of masterful sculptural art and horology, highly treasured as a collectible even in its own time.
