CAST FROM FINE BRONZE WITH OVERALL GILDING AND MINERAL PIGMENTS, THE STATUE SITS IN LOTUS POSITION, WEARING AN ELABORATE CROWN WITH AN URNA (CURL) ON THE FOREHEAD, A COMPASSIONATE AND PLUMP FACE, ADORNED WITH BEADED NECKLACES AND BRACELETS, AND FLOWING ROBE CARVINGS. THE RIGHT HAND IS IN ABHAYA MUDRA (FEARLESSNESS GESTURE) AND THE LEFT HAND IN VARADA MUDRA (WISH-GRANTING GESTURE) . DESPITE WORN GILDING OVER TIME, IT RETAINS THE SOLEMN DHARMA AURA OF GUANYIN’S GREAT COMPASSION, REPRESENTING A CLASSIC FORM OF MING DYNASTY CHINESE BUDDHIST STATUES, EMBODYING THE EXQUISITE CRAFTSMANSHIP AND VIGOROUS MOMENTUM OF MING DYNASTY GILT-BRONZE STATUARY.
