HEIGHT:14CM (5.51IN) WIDTH:18CM (7.09IN) WEIGHT:1030G (2.27LB) SOLID LAPIS LAZULI CARVED PIXIU ORNAMENT, QING DYNASTY, MATCHED WITH HOLLOW CARVED RED SANDALWOOD BASE. CARVED FROM ONE WHOLE NATURAL LAPIS BLOCK WITH RICH ROYAL BLUE BASE SCATTERED WITH NATURAL GOLDEN PYRITE SPECKLES. THE AUSPICIOUS BEAST CROUCHES AND TURNS ITS HEAD BACK, OPEN WITH EXPOSED MOUTH FANGS, CURLY SPIRAL MANE AND TAIL, SHALLOW WING LINES CARVED ON BODY WITH SMOOTH FULL ROUNDED LINES.SUPPORTING HOLLOW OPENWORK SANDALWOOD BASE FULLY CARVED WITH CLOUD PATTERNS, PINE TREES AND ROCKERIES, LAYERED DELICATE CRAFT WITH DARK OILY AGED WOOD PATINA. PIXIU IS THE CLASSIC CHINESE AUSPICIOUS BEAST FOR WEALTH AND HOUSE PROTECTION. LAPIS LAZULI WAS A PRECIOUS IMPERIAL GEMSTONE; LARGE SINGLE-STONE CARVINGS ARE RARE SURVIVING RELICS.
