Description

H:103.0cm(40.55in) W:56.0cm(22.05in) Weight:43000g(94.80lb)This statue is cast in gilded bronze. The main figure is Maitreya Bodhisattva (Buddha of the Future), standing in a relaxed posture on a lotus pedestal, wearing a treasure crown with a compassionate expression, adorned with necklaces and bracelets, holding lotus flowers in his hands (a classic attribute), symbolizing the Tushita Heaven and future Buddhahood. Two attendant Bodhisattvas stand on either side of the main figure. Behind them is a large arched hollow Bodh Gaya-style aureola densely decorated with small Buddha statues and floral scrolls. The pedestal is a multi-layered Sumeru-style base with mythical beasts carved underneath. Integrating the artistic features of early Swat/Kashmir school, this statue is elegant and exquisitely crafted. As a classic standing trinity of Maitreya in Tibetan Buddhism, it holds immense historical and artistic value.
