Lot 204:
Description
H:35.0cm(13.78in) W:22.0cm(8.66in) Weight:6450g(14.22lb)This statue is cast in bronze and gilded. Sakyamuni Buddha sits in the full-lotus posture on a double-layered lotus pedestal, with a high spiral hair bun and a compassionate, solemn expression. He wears a right-shoulder-exposed monk’s robe, with the robe folds decorated with beaded patterns. The right hand is in Bhumisparsha mudra (touching the earth gesture) and the left hand in Varada mudra (gift-giving gesture). The lotus pedestal is exquisitely carved with full and regular patterns, and the gilding is mellow and warm. It is a classic form of Sakyamuni Buddha’s enlightenment statue in Tibetan Buddhism, a typical representative of Ming and Qing court statue craftsmanship, with extremely high historical, artistic and religious worship value.
