Description

H:6cm(2.36in) D:11.3cm(4.45in) Weight:20g(0.04lb)This is a Song Dynasty Jizhou Yao tea bowl with tortoise-shell glaze, a classic vessel from the era when tea competitions were popular. It has an open mouth, sloping belly, and small foot. The entire bowl is covered in black glaze, over which irregular yellowish-brown splashes flow, resembling the texture of a tortoise shell. The glaze is warm with fine crackles. The rim is set with silver, protecting the easily worn edge and adding a simple metallic touch. This was a tea vessel for scholars, valued both for use and display
