Provenance and Authentication:
This lot is accompanied by supporting documentation provided by the consignor. According to the accompanying materials, the signature was reviewed with reference to factors including ink characteristics, material aging, stylistic consistency, and historical context. These materials relate to the reported signature, provenance, and authentication history of the piece, and are presented as received for bidder review in accordance with the auction terms and conditions.
Albert Einstein remains one of the most influential scientific figures in history, whose theories fundamentally reshaped modern physics and our understanding of the universe. His autograph is among the most sought after across all fields of collecting due to its rarity and global recognition.
This example is a copy of The Meaning of Relativity, one of Einstein’s most important theoretical works, presenting a refined explanation of his groundbreaking concepts. The third edition represents a revised and expanded version, incorporating developments in the general theory of gravitation.
The book bears Einstein’s signature, accompanied by the year "51," adding a significant historical context to the autograph. The signature is executed in a fluid and characteristic hand, consistent with known examples, and remains clearly legible.
The placement on the title page provides a strong and focused presentation, with the autograph directly associated with the work’s identity. The inclusion of a dated signature enhances both authenticity context and collector desirability.
The book remains in good condition with light age-related wear, while the signature is stable and well preserved.
From a collecting standpoint, Einstein signatures are exceptionally scarce, particularly on works directly related to his scientific contributions. While first editions command the highest premiums, later authoritative editions such as this remain highly desirable when signed.
The combination of a foundational scientific text, a dated signature, and a strong presentation places this piece firmly within the upper tier of historical autograph collecting.
Overall, this is a highly significant and desirable Einstein signed book with strong market demand.
