This signed copy of Fiesta (published as The Sun Also Rises) is a First Edition First Printing, released in 1941 by The British Publishers Guild. Known for its insightful portrayal of the Lost Generation, this novel is one of Ernest Hemingway’s most important works, capturing the disillusionment of post-World War I expatriates in Paris. The signature of Hemingway on the title page adds further value, making this a significant collectible.
The book is in good condition, with some age-related wear typical of books from the early 20th century. The dust jacket is slightly faded with minor creases and tears at the edges, though it retains its overall form. The spine has some signs of wear, and the pages show some yellowing due to age. Hemingway’s signature, placed prominently on the title page, is clear and bold, reflecting his signature style with consistent pen pressure and fluid movement.
Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961) is one of the most influential American writers of the 20th century, and Fiesta remains a defining work in his literary career. Published just after his experiences in Spain and during his time in Paris, this book helped solidify his reputation as a leading figure of modernist literature. Signed first editions of Hemingway’s works are highly desirable, especially those of his most iconic novels like The Sun Also Rises.
Signed first editions of Fiesta often achieve strong auction results due to their literary significance and Hemingway’s lasting legacy. This particular copy, in its original Guild Books edition and with the author’s signature, remains a sought-after piece among collectors of modernist literature and Hemingway memorabilia.
