H:100cm(39.37in)W:58cm(22.83in)T:35cm(13.78in)Wei ght:250000g This is a stone statue of Avalokiteshvara (or Tara) in royal ease posture, dating from the 8th to 12th century in South Asian style. Carved from black stone with remaining gilding and mineral pigment traces, it sits in lalitasana with one hand in abhaya mudra and the other resting on the knee. Adorned with lotus flowers on the shoulders, it features intricate carvings of robes and beaded ornaments, along with a solemn lotus pedestal and attendant figures. It embodies the artistic fusion of Hindu and Buddhist traditions, representing a classic example of ancient Southeast Asian Buddhist sculpture.
